A few years ago, my daughter mentioned that the labels on her clothes were itching her skin and it made her feel really uncomfortable. We tried the dry skin relief creams and Shea butter, but no relief. So, I got out my scissors and snipped the label off! Problem solved… So, each time we buy her any item of clothing we now have a tradition of cutting off the labels – she will also remind mummy to cut off the label, so it doesn’t itch her skin!
Then, I thought to myself or maybe it wasn’t me, but God at work, that the level of discomfort that my daughter had experienced with the labels on her clothes was easily and quickly sorted by cutting them off.
What labels are causing me discomfort or itchy skin? Maybe I could also snip my labels off, not with the traditional scissors, but with something sharper… even sharper than a two-edged sword – the sword of the Spirit, the word of God.
Have you believed and allowed the voice or the opinions of others to restrict or limit you in any way? or maybe it’s the label that you’ve put on yourself based on your past or mistakes that are responsible for your itch?
I feel your pain! Unconsciously you start to acknowledge the lesser voices/s instead of focusing on the one voice that really and truly matters – the voice of God. But we are not without hope…God has got your back on this one and he’ll help us all the way, but you and I also have our part to play.
Action:
1-Let’s get out our Sword of the Spirit, the Bible and use it to cut off those labels that have been causing us discomfort. Keep doing this and don’t give up, until the labels are gone.
2-Get your affirmation from the Bible, not people. Do you know who you are and whose you are?
