The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:2

How to encourage yourself In 5 steps:

David encouraged himself in God [1 Samuel 30:6] …There will be times when there will be no one to encourage you and maybe those that you assumed would be there end up being the ones disappointing you…Life!

  1.  THINK:
    – Meditate on Scriptures
    – Look at the beauty of creation and ponder on it
    – Think about God’s goodness
    – You are alive only because of God’s mercies – i slept and awoke only because the Lord sustained me
    – It is because of His Mercies that we are not consumed
    – You are saved by grace – Christ died for us whilst we were yet sinners. No repentance in the grave
    – God is the almighty God – he sits upon the circles of the earth

  2. GIVE THANKS
    – Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise
    – Keep a gratitude diary/journal
    – Thank God everyday
    – I remember the song “When I think of the goodness of jesus and all he has done for me…”

  3. SING
    – A merry heart doeth good like medicine, but a crushed spirit dries the bones!
    – Sing with joy in your heart..as you think and give thanks, grateful praise will spring forth within your heart
and you will burst forth in songs!
    –  You don’t need a perfect voice, just open your mouth and sing unto the Lord

  4. PRAY
Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you – we go to God because he cares and we can trust Him with the secrets of our hearts..he understands..we do not have a high priest that is not untouchedPeople may promise to pray for you and not, the best prayer you can pray is for yourself..even the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray! The Spirit helps our infirmities when we want to pray – praying in tongues as we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit is another way to communicate to God in prayer…for when we pray in tongues we speak mysteries unto God.Prayer is more than a religious activity. It is communicating with our father in heaven in the name of Jesus.

  5. SERVE GOD
Use the gifts, resources and talents that God has given to you for His glory. An example worthy of note is that Zacharias the father of John the Baptist was serving God in the temple, whilst he and his wife Elizabeth were waiting for a child.God has given us gifts and talents that He expects us to use for His glory and to be a blessing to others.Service is unto God and not unto men/church/pastor/leader/man of God….it’s Christ-centered and God-focused….

Action:
Encourage yourself….Think, Give Thanks, Pray, Sing and Serve!

Thinkspiration:

  • The things you take for granted someone else is praying for – unknown
  • Don’t just go through it, grow through it.. Christine Caine
